Penelope A. Wilson, MBA, CFRE

Executive Director


Penelope’s nonprofit experience encompasses over 20 years in the Charlotte community. She founded the Komen Charlotte Race For The Cure in 1996 and was Komen Charlotte’s first Executive Director from 2001 until 2005. After the Komen Foundation, she worked at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, Hospice & Palliative Charlotte Region, and Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center. Being with the Colon Cancer Support Network is very meaningful to Penelope as her mother is a 16 year stage 4 colon cancer survivor. She looks forward to be a part of growing CCSN in order to serve even more colon cancer patients in our NC communities.

Dr. Andrew Ferris

Andrew received his B.S. degree from Michigan State University in Electrical Engineering. Andrew then received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Andrew went on to complete his residency in Orthopedic Surgery from Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center in Mount Clemens, Michigan. Dr. Ferris founded Piedmont Orthopedic Specialists in Concord, NC were he has practiced for the last 7 years. Dr. Ferris's wife Yvette was diagnosed with colon cancer in July of 2011, motivating him to co-found the Yvette W. Ferris Foundation (now known as the Colon Cancer Support Network of the Carolinas). Dr. Ferris and his wife are devoted parents of four children. Having witnessed first-hand the challenges in dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of colon cancer, he is committed to assisting other facing these challenges.

Chris Kastler

Chris graduated with honors from Clemson University earning a B.S. in Financial Management. Currently, he serves as the Director of Operations for Sunlight Financial. He has a diverse knowledge of business development, financial management, and strategy. He is a proactive, highly skilled professional with a passion and discipline for coordinating all aspects of business development and growth. Having supported and encouraged his dear friends through the crisis of colon cancer, Chris co-founded The Yvette W. Ferris Foundation with Dr. Andrew Ferris in 2012 with a commitment to helping others battle the disease. Chris is an active member of the Charlotte community, a husband, and a father of three young children.

Brian Rowan

Brian received his B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and his MBA from Cleveland State University. For over 15 years, Brian has held various management roles of increasing responsibility within publically traded, global organizations. Brian's background in marketing, product management, business development and general management allows him to contribute to the foundations strategic planning and financial management. Like many, Brian has experienced family hardship through the devastation of cancer. However, Brian's true passion is children and providing happy and healthy surroundings during their development years. Through his relationship with the Ferris family, Brian witnessed the very personal and unexpected aspects of cancer as it relates to a young family. He also realized that the Ferris' ability to navigate the very difficult diagnosis, treatment, and recovery periods was enabled by the considerable support system and resources that few families enjoy. Through the Colon Cancer Support Network of the Carolinas, Brian hopes to reduce the stresses of daily life so that affected families can focus on recovery.

Susan Kastler

A Manager at The Medicines Company, Susan brings 15 years of sales and leadership experience to the team. She is skilled in navigating the hospital systems and understands the importance of networking among the medical community. Susan received a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Clemson University. Susan is both inspired and humbled by the emotional weather that accompanies cancer. Until there is cure, she wants to build and share a secure place for anyone affected, to get out of the storm.

David Ibsen

David Ibsen earned his BA in political science from Furman University and his MS is organization development from Queens University of Charlotte. David currently works as Director of Development and Annual Giving at Cannon School in Concord, NC. He began his career working in the financial services industry, working both in branch banking as well as small business banking first for SunTrust Bank and later at RBC Centura in Atlanta, GA. He then moved to Charlotte, where he worked as a consultant for PMA Consulting, helping nonprofit organizations with strategic and fundraising planning. In March 2015, David was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer. After surgery and six-months of chemotherapy, David currently finds himself in remission. Since this time, David is committed to helping others who are currently fighting colon cancer to know of the support and resources within the Charlotte community.
